  • 6 large apples (Golden Delicious or Fuji), peeled & sliced
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ⅛ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • ½ cup apple juice or water
  • 2 tbsp butter, cubed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
